How do I learn more about my state’s employment laws?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

To learn more about the state of Florida’s employment laws, you could go to the Florida Commission Human Relations’ website, but as a state employee you may also have rights under federal law under Title VII, which is protected by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. You can contact their website at eeoc.gov. It’s important to keep in mind that Florida is an at will employment state and it was one of the later states to adopt the Florida Civil Rights Act, so our state doesn’t have as many statutory rights as say California, or some more evolved states, from an employment law standpoint. If you have questions about your particular rights or concerns, you may want to contact an employment lawyer for advice.
