If my state’s minimum wage is different than the federal minimum wage, which do I get?

State law controls the amount of minimum wage that you get. Even though federal law has the statute that says you must be paid at least $5.25 an hour as minimum wage, if your state law is higher like it is here in Florida, you would be entitled to a higher wage in the State of Florida. The way you could find out what your state wage is is to check the Department of Labors website, which is a federal website, but it contains information both on state and federal wages.
