Is my employer required to pay me for sick days, personal, days and holidays?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

This is a common question. We get asked a lot about whether employers are entitled for sick time, holidays, or vacation days. The answer is, it depends. It depends on your employer and how generous they are. If your employer chooses to pay you for vacation then they choose to pay you for vacation, but there’s no statutory obligation to do so. If you have an employment contract, this is a good thing to include, that you get so many paid days off per year. Another common part of that question is whether you get them paid if you leave your employment before the year is up, do you get those accrued paid days off. The answer is no, unless you have an agreement contrary to that.
