Is there a deadline for bringing an employment-related claim?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

Employment-related claims have very short time periods to bring them, or what’s called ‘statute of limitations.’ If you feel like you’re being discriminated against, don’t delay. You should immediately report the adverse action that you’re experiencing to human resources or seek counsel so they can tell you what your rights are. If you feel like you’re being discriminated or retaliated against because of protected characteristic, those types of claims need to be brought through an EEOC process before you can bring them in court. In some cases, you have as short as six months to do so, so don’t delay.
