What constitutes sexual harassment in the workplace?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

Sexual harassment has to be severe and pervasive, and really the hallmark principle is unwelcome. We often get calls on individuals who might feel sexually harassed because they’re having a consensual relationship in the office, that’s not harassment. Harassment has to be unwelcome comments, unwelcome physical conduct, or unwelcome treatment that’s generated because of your gender. Some examples would include inappropriate jokes, inappropriate emails, inappropriate comments, sexual propositioning and things that make women in particular feel humiliated, uncomfortable in the workplace and take away from the productive place that the workplace should be.
