What is the difference in sex discrimination and harrassment in a federal workplace compared to a civilian workplace?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

The elements of the claims are very similar compared to a Federal employee versus a private employee. However, the remedies that those employees might have differ. For instance, as a Federal employee, there’s typically an EEO process that the employee has to take advantage of if you have a complaint regarding sex harassment or discrimination, and the statue of limitations, or the time that you have to bring those claims, is a lot shorter as a Federal employee as it would be for a private employee.

Therefore, if you do have questions about sexual harassment, or with regard to discrimination in the workplace either as a Federal employee, or a private employee, it’s advisable that you do see consultation with an employment lawyer so you can understand what your rights are.
