The rights regarding these class of employees are evolving, even now today with regard to federal and state laws. While there may be certain protections with regard to local ordinances that we have for protections of these class of employees, there’s also evolving laws with regard to the federal protections. Recently the EEOC began recognizing this class of employees as protected under those rights and we’ll see in the coming years as this law continues to evolve as to what protections that those employees will have. They do have rights under certain federal and local ordinances and if you have questions about what those rights are, it’s a good idea to seek counsel with an employment lawyer who can advise you further.
